About

Watch this space to find out what’s happening as King County Metro Transit rolls out its new RapidRide bus rapid transit service in King County, Washington.

RapidRide offers frequent trips throughout the day, and is being phased in for six heavily-used corridors. Service on the A Line on Pacific Highway S/International Boulevard began in October 2010, and service on the B Line in Bellevue and Redmond began in October 2011. The C and D lines are scheduled to roll out on Sept. 29, connecting West Seattle and Ballard/Queen Anne (respectively) to downtown Seattle.

I’ve seen maps of the D Line that include a loop along Leary and 24th Aves NW. When did that portion of the route get eliminated?

If you could just reply via email, that would be good too. thanks!

Metro developed two routing alternatives for the D Line and presented them for public comment in 2008-09. One followed the path of the current Route 15 directly up 15th Avenue NW, and the other followed the current Route 18 via Leary Way NW and 24th Avenue NW.

We gathered input on these alternative alignments through brochures and questionnaires distributed to 60,000 area households (and also available online) and a series of public open houses and information tables during the winter of 2009. We convened a community advisory panel to review both the routing alternatives and the feedback we received from the public. The 15th Avenue NW alternative had overwhelming public support and was recommended by the advisory panel and Metro staff. The County Council adopted it as the final D Line alignment in 2009.

The 24th Avenue NW corridor will continue to be covered by local service. Metro will address the structure of Ballard service and its integration with the D Line with a second phase of the planning and public outreach that will begin in fall 2011. The D Line is scheduled to begin service in September 2012.

I question if Metro even monitors this site, or is it just another PR stunt.
RapidRide A was rolled out with much fanfare and hoopla by management and politicians alike. I asked several simple questions back in early November, and was replied to that ridership and signal priority would be answered by the end of that month.
I again asked where the numbers were in December, but this time not even an answer.

So it’s been 3 months, and nothing, nada, zip.
No info, and no thank you replies.
Why not just close the blog down and be honest about it – nobody cares.

Does the rapid ride line connect from West Seattle
to Des Moines ( Marine Way and 216th ? )

  4. Jennifer says:

How can I connect from West Seattle to Des Moines- 216th and Marine View streets ?

  5. rapidride says:

There is no RapidRide service from West Seattle to Des Moines at this time, but there is bus service. For more information, please call Metro Transit Customer Information at 206-553-3000, or try using Metro’s online regional Trip Planner.

Today, Nov 14 is the last public meeting on the Rapid Ride line D, with a lot of changes to other routes: 18, 17, 75…

I think Metro has done a POOR job of informing interested parties, including the LACK of a LINK to the dates and locations of these meetings on the Rapid Ride D webpage.

  7. Marcia Ford says:

Is there somewhere we can verify traffic rules in regard to the bus bulbs, especially near traffic lights? (ie; California Ave SW & SW Morgan St)

  8. Ted says:

Does the Rapid Line C stop at all the stops along California Ave SW, or just the Rapid Ride Stations?

  9. Michael says:

I’m looking for the RSS feed for this blog, is there one?
